25/5/2014 0 Comments Easy as tomato sauce for pasta.skill rating: easy mood rating: motivated Time: about 10 min and that how long most pasta takes to cook 1 Onion diced (a smallish one - not a massive one) 1 -2 cloves garlic crushed can of tomatoes 1 teaspoon sugar salt to taste any herbs you have on hand (I always have those ones you buy in the pots, but they die on you really quickly, so you can use them up in this before you chuck them) or use about 1/2 tsp dried herbs - oregano, thyme or majoram would be good ones oil Fry onion and garlic in oil until transparent (about 5 min on med) Add caned tomatoes mush up and simmer 10 min until thick Stir in sugar and salt, add herbs to taste stir in a tablespoon or two of olive oil if you have some in your cupboard. Serve over pasta. If you want you could put some ham or salami in. Or add some red wine that has been open too long. Grate cheese on top if you want. If you want to hide veges grate some zucchini and carrot in. It is heaps cheaper than buying a jar, and flasher.

25/5/2014 Best ever Pasta and Cream sauce.skill rating: easy mood rating: motivated Time: about 15 min (but you'll have to get the cream on the way home) Pasta of your choosing - I like the one that looks like little mouse ears 300ml cream 2 cloves garlic cheese (parmesan or extra tasty) about 2 big handfuls grated Cook pasta in boiling water (about 10 or 11 min) While the pasta is cooking, crush garlic and fry in a little olive oil until clear (DO NOT burn it - or it will be ruined and you may as well buy takeaways). Add cream, and try not to boil it (I always do, but you shouldn't) Take off from heat and stir in cheese until it melts Taste and it might need some salt Drain pasta and stir sauce through. Grind pepper on top. Serve with a green salad, or if you have no greens, you can always add some peas to the sauce. I think that might be what they do somewhere, but adding peas is a bit crap really. Adding a bit for the delicious Kerrie whose hair is looking great with the blond (if you see her, tell her!) You can always add mushrooms, and bacon. I slice the mushrooms (don't even peel them ow!), put a knob of butter on top (about half a teaspoon) and microwave for a minute and then stir through at the end. I do this for whiny pants kids who don't want mushrooms in theirs. Otherwise fry the bacon and mushrooms at the start with the garlic. Ok, so I'm just rehashing old posts here, because I can't be bothered writing new ones. I am very lazy. I started this blog because my friend Maria went to work, so I gave her all my easy recipes, and then she said I should start a blog, and she is very wise. This is one of the recipes I gave her. When I wrote this I couldn't even use bullet points or anything. My, how I have grown as a person.
My daughter loves this. Not the vegetarian. The vegetarian one hates this. It is actually delicious especially for non-vegetarians. I lived in Melbourne for a while with my Late-ex-husband who was my boyfriend then. I made this when we had some friends who had emigrated from New Delhi over for dinner. They bought one of their Mothers who was visiting at the time from India with them, and I had to run and get a plate off the neighbour, because we only had 4 plates. He let us keep it. They loved it, and the Mother took the recipe back to India, because she liked it so much. The old Greek man across the road used to come over and try and visit me when the boyfriend went to work. He brought me flowers which I'd chuck in the bin. He also offered me money. I should have taken that but I didn't. I used to put these rating on but now I don't because I can't be arsed. I might make this lasagne this week, but I probably won't because I rarely have spinach, cottage cheese and pasta sheets all at the same time. I did buy some spinach to make it, but made a curry instead. It was delicious, but I have forgotten how to make it now, so I can't even put the recipe up. I might find a sad song, because I feel a bit sad thinking about my Melbourne days. It's there if you click sad song. It's Nick Cave. I saw him, but not in Melbourne. He was amazing. This is a bit painful, because it makes lots of dishes, but make a kid wash up. The dish you bake the lasagne in is a bastard to wash. I've warned you. skill rating: fairly easy mood rating: motivated but you make this the night before so for when you know you'll be tired Time: about 20 min; cooks in about 45 min You need:
Serve with a salad if you can be bothered. Or with baked potatoes because you can put them in the oven at the same time, but that is really a Carbohydrate overload if you ask me. I figure it already has tomatoes and spinach so it's pretty balanced. |
