26/12/2019 0 Comments Post Xmas BreakfastPost Christmas breakfast is the best. We don't typically eat dessert on Christmas. We mostly save it for boxing day breakfast. This is me sitting in bed. In my bowl I have 5 blueberries for the illusion of health. And because they're yum. And meringues - I made those with the egg whites from the Citron Tart (also in the bowl) which the 16-year old boy made. It has the best pastry and is so good. Also in there is the best every cheesecake. The 14 year old pointed out there was a recipe on the philly cheesecake pack, and seriously it was the actual best cheesecake I ever have made. And super easy. We used Gingernuts for the base, but next time I'd use Malt biscuits like the other man shopping said to buy. It has gelatine in it and I hate gelatine and all it stands for, but seriously don't be afraid, because the cheesecake is seriously amazing. Seriously.
I did these Meringues but didn't have caster sugar so used white sugar and beat the crap out of it, and then stuck it in a plastic bag and piped them. The boy made this Lemon Tart and it is so good. The pastry is super easy too. And it just uses normal stuff you have. though you have to go to Sharon's house to get the lemons and drink beer in her garden so that's not a hardship. The cheesecake recipe is coming. I tired to find it on-line and it wasn't there wtf. There are 186 recipes for cheesecake on the Kraft Aussie website and I'm fucked if I'm gonna trawl through those. The boxes are in the bin and I could make it up from memory but it's boxing day and whose got time for that. I'll buy some more and write it out for you. Sometime. Not this year probably. Ps Yes I did use that pic because my legs look skinny in it. Not as skinny as they'll be once I hit the gym in 2020-ish.

26/12/2019 0 Comments Potato and EggDespite being of Irish Heritage I don't even like Potatoes that much. Only roast potatoes, chips, and potato fritters. Oh and hash browns and scalloped potatoes, and on fish pie. So quite a few ways really but this is the best way ever to eat them. You don't even have make the fritter you just buy extra potato fritters from the fish and chip and have them the next morning with a fried egg. Buy heaps of fritters because (a) they are yum and (b) some bastard will get up in the night and eat them.
This isn't even really a recipe just things that taste good together. Check out that photo - there's an antler in the top left corner from where Wally - cat broke a decoration. And two plants. I made a terrerium and it was 3 plants for 9 bucks and 5 for 10, so they're the left overs. to make
10/1/2019 0 Comments Creamy MushroomsEw does that photo look a bit yuck or OK. This is what we had for breakfast. Poached eggs and mushrooms. To be honest the mushrooms were too mushroomy for me so I gave them to Guitarman. That's his plate. He started eating before I could take a photo. His plate looked better than mine though.
Mushrooms are easy as and people think you're a bit fancy when you make them. They would have been great with Bacon but we had no bacon.
Seriously the ones I made were a bit yuck but Guitarman said they were Yum. Totally keeping him around. 6/1/2019 0 Comments Scrambleambled eggsSo I don't have a photo but here is a stock photo of eggs for your visual pleasure.
Anyway scrambled eggs are the bomb. They take a bit of attention, and you can fuck them up easily so you better be careful as. I tend to be un-careful and fuck them up, so Guitar man took over the scrambled eggs duty and his are delicious. But I made some the other day and the 9 year old said "you know, I think Moira's eggs are better than Dad's" and you know kids are brutally honest. I did an internal dance (actually external) at that validation because my kids comments are much more brutal, if honest. While I was writing this post the discussion about scrambled eggs veered into a discussion about my driving, but the traffic cops gave me a licence, though a couple of them helped me with my theory test which was kind of them. The 16 year old said I didn't even really pass if they gave me the answers. But I have a card with my photo on it. Top Tip: wear makeup and ask the lady to take a real nice photo, and you get a great licence photo. When I was buying fish and chips, a high-school student serving me said "is that your licence? You look really pretty there Miss. What happened?". Kids: brutally honest. The scrambled eggs were extra extra good, and do you know why?! 1. because I'm awesome, and 2. because it was Christmas and I made them with cream that was leftover from Desserts-a-plenty. Cream is the best thing ever. I heartily recommend it. There is room in here for a bad heart pun but I won't even. You need:-
If you leave them, they will be shit and if the temperature is too high, they will burn and have black bits and be re-volt-ing. That's my go-to. The cream has redeemed me. 17/8/2018 2 Comments Corn Fritters (yum as)So I've been sick as for the last few days. So sick I didn't want to eat (I know right! WTaF, but those Lee Jeans are getting closer to fitting) and so sick I even went to the doctor and paid $46. He was very sympathetic and sent me for blood tests and signed me off work. So I was actually sick, but not as sick as I was when I had the 30% chance of dying! Today I woke up HUNGRY as. So I made this for breakfast pretending I was in a fancy-pants cafe. It's a corn fritter stack with bacon, siracha mayo, cherry tomatoes, and beetroot chutney. Actually the crap I had in the fridge. The serving in the photo belongs to guitar man. I obviously had a dainty teeny-tiny serving befitting of the waif I am. You can make this for whoever, and they'll think you're flash as. You could serve them with anything you have really - or just on their own with sweet chilli sauce. My friend Tracey with an E used to make mini corn fritters as a plate to share and they were always a success - and cheap as to make. You need:
To make the extravagant stack in the picture, grill bacon (as is my want I almost burnt it, and so it was way crispier than expected)l chop cherry tomatoes into quarters (you could use any tomatoes really, but in slices) , and stack up in layers with Siracha Mayonnaise in between. I put a fondue stick in because I didn't have any wooden skewers. I have fondue sticks for the chocolate fountain which is fun as for kids. You should buy one or borrow mine if you want. Avocado would be yum too, but have you seen the price of them! I bought one as a treat for vege daughter who forgot about it, and it went half brown. ew yuck. That was a very sad moment in my life. Special Additional Recipe! Siracha Mayo |
